The snow had been brushing my window
For two hours
Begging to be let in to the warmth
To warm up
When the smell of roses
My lullaby
Smothered me into sleep
And I dreamt
There were laughing angels
And those that were crying
And there was me
And I had wings
My t-shirt
The sleeves
Smell like cinnamon
Peppermint
An angry collection
Of fierce beauty
Kittens race around my feet
Knocking me into the misty night
And I laugh
Despite myself
Wolves howl in the distance
And I howl back
